14th                 The Wallingford Historical and Archaeological Society November’s talk will be present by Rosey Meara about ‘Recent Cotswold Archaeology Projects in Oxfordshire’.  The talk will take place at Wallingford Town Hall at 7.45pm.  Visitors most welcome £3.

20th – 23rd      Living Crafts for Christmas at Blenheim Palace.  Enjoy Christmas shopping in style with over 150 designer-makers showcasing high quality contemporary crafts.  With a wide range of gifts perfect for all the family.

29th                 United Charities Bazaar held in Wallingford Town Hall

29th & 30th        Cholsey & Wallingford Railway – Forces Personnel Santa Train Special.  Santa will ride with you visiting children during the journey.  Each child up to age 8 will receive a gift from Santa and adults will receive a mince pie at Wallingford Station.  Serving and retired forces personnel (including armed forces and current emergency service personnel) can travel for half price.

4th & 5th          Cholsey & Wallingford Railway – Nursery Rhyme Weekend – Free travel for 1-10 year old’s dressed as a nursery rhyme character.

4th & 5th          Didcot Railway Centre – Day out with Thomas – 9.30am – 5pm.  Events taking place throughout the day including Circus workshop, Thomas Story readings and rides taking place all day.  Adults £12, Children aged 2-15 £10, Adults 60+ £11, and Family (2 adults, 2 children) £39.

5th                    Autumn Water Festival – Celebration of Autumn, harvests, water and wetland at the Earth Trust Centre, Little Wittenham (11am – 4pm).  Adults £5, Children £2, families £12 (2 adults, 2 children).

5th                    Henley Ploughing Match at Bishopsland Dunsden.  Gates open at 9am with the ‘Blessing of the Plough’ at 9.15am.  The day includes heavy horse display, log chopping competition, trailer rides and much more.  Adults £5, Concessions £3 and Children under 5 are free.

19th                 Wantage Autumn Festival –A Celebration of Autumn showcasing some of the finest local producers and musicians, plus fun stuff for the kids to do.  Bring along your garden apples for traditional pressing. 12 noon – 5pm, at King Alfred’s Academy East Site, £2 entry, Kids Free.

20th – 25th       Oh What a Lovely War presented by Sinodun Players at The Corn Exchange Wallingford.

21st                  Farmers Market – Wallingford Market Place

25th                 Halloween Entertainment at Blenheim Palace.  Enjoy a family day out with a Halloween twist of a ghost train ride, lurk around the labyrinth or carve a pumpkin at the Pleasure Gardens Deli.

25th & 26th      Cholsey & Wallingford Railway – Spooky Halloween Trains. Look out for the spooky characters along both sides of the track and beware the witch distributing Special Halloween Spooky Bags to all children under 8 years old.

25th & 26th      Mapledurham Christmas Craft and Gift Fair.  A perfect way to start of the Christmas shopping with stalls full of wonder crafts and fine foods direct from the producers.

29th                 Woodland Adventure: an Expedition for 5-8 year olds at the Earth Trust Centre (10am – 12pm), Little Wittenham.  £3 per child, accompanying adult free

30th                 ‘Night at the Museum’ at Wallingford Museum is back by popular demand from 6pm – 9pm.  View the museum from a different light (remember to bring your torch).  £4 per adult and free for children.

31st                  Discover and Play.  Forest School for pre-school children.  Come and Play for a morning of discovery in the Woodlands. Earth Trust Centre (10am – 12pm), Little Wittenham.  £3 per child, accompanying adult free.

19th                 A short talk ‘Agatha Christie’s Wallingford Connections’ by Local Historian Judy Dewey followed by a vintage showing of the 1974 film ‘Murder on the Orient Express’.  Tickets available at the Corn Exchange.

19th – 21st       Agatha Christie Weekend – Town Mystery Trail, available free from the Museum and Town Information Centre.  Explore the town to find answers and will book tokens as prizes.

19th – 21st       ‘At Home with the Queen of Crime’ exhibition at Wallingford Museum.  Tickets include this special Agatha Christie exhibition (including personal letters).  Exhibition looks at Agatha Christie’s home in Wallingford and letters from her later life connected with her role as President of the Local Dramatic Society The Sinodun Players.

20th                 Saturday afternoon presents another opportunity to visit Wallingford Museum at a ‘Signing and Cyanide’ event (including special quiz) and in the afternoon there’s also a rare and special chance to Meet Lucy Worsley – well known for her TV appearances – who will be at the Museum to sign her latest books, ‘A Very British Murder’ and ‘The Courtiers’, on sale at the Museum courtesy of Wallingford Bookshop.   In the evening there is a very special event when Lucy Worsley will present a talk ‘A Very British Murder’ in St Mary’s Church, Market Place.

20th & 21st      On Saturday and Sunday morning there will be a ‘Guided Agatha Christie Walk – Wallingford to Cholsey’ by Judy Dewey and Tony Raynor (local historians / authors).  Walk price includes a single ticket to return on the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway. While in Cholsey you may also visit a special exhibition of ’Agatha Christie and Cholsey’ including photographs and documents, and take refreshments at the Old School.
